When Geisler Brothers began to explore the possibility of acquiring Universal Climate Control, one fact stood out – Opportunity.
The addition of UCC would provide access to a market area that previously was not available. UCC and Geisler Brothers would compliment each other very well and enjoy a synergistic relationship.
In April of 2012 Scot and Todd Geisler went to lunch with Bryan Lawler of Universal Climate Control to hear all about a well-known heating, air conditioning, ventilation and sheet metal contracting company in the Coralville/ Iowa City area.
After many meetings, Tom, Scot, and Todd were able to finalize a deal and closed on the purchase of UCC on June 11, 2012.
In less than 1 hour, UCC was up and running under new ownership and management. Scot decided to move to the Coralville area and manage the day to day operations, while Todd would stay and manage Geisler Brothers Company in Dubuque.
Today we share resources and are still working towards universal standards at both locations. UCC has a full CAD department with several draftsmen. We updated the software and hardware being used, and now Geisler Brothers relies on UCC for all their CAD needs.
We now have a 50,000 square foot shop in Dubuque and in Coralville. Geisler Brothers fabricates quite a bit of ductwork for UCC as the Dubuque facility is still a little more automated.
Having 2 coil lines in Dubuque allows UCC to get duct from Dubuque as needed. We have a truck that runs between Dubuque and Iowa City almost daily.
Scot and Todd have weekly meetings to review operations and explore new opportunities for improvement.
